Sisters {Janice Reyes Photography – Austin, TX}

I had quite a busy weekend. I was with March of Dimes for 4 hours on Saturday. I promise that someday I will ask a NICU family if I can share their photos on my blog so I can inspire other photographers to work with March of Dimes, but for now you just get to know I meet and photograph the most amazing babies and families. Yesterday morning I had the session I am going to share with you. Tonight, I have my first Red Thread Session.

The kids go back to school today. Spring break with Dani was awesome.

Anyway.

These girls are distant cousins (seriously – I googled our last names and their was a marriage 100 years ago and they had 9 kids). We grew up with the same Polish traditions, food, and wearing yellow (Polish folk look good in yellow).

L+K you are beautiful and smart and awesome. And because you take the time to get portraits as adults – you are the best kids. My mom and mother-in-law do not have any recent sibling photos for their house.

Dani {Janice Reyes Photography – Austin, TX}

Me: B what is your favorite thing about Miss Dani?
B: Nothing.

He probably just didn’t want to be a sore winner and talk about Connect Four.

We all know she is pretty and funny and smart and awesome.

Laura {Janice Reyes Photography – Austin,TX}

Check back on Monday and Tuesday to see the rest of the portrait party photos! For a special Friday treat I wanted to post some SOCO photos.

Laura is one of my closest and mostest favoritest friends. I googled my maiden name and her last name and 100 years ago some of our relatives got married – so that makes her family. Our Polish bloodline makes unique and a different kind of communicator. We value the same things in friendship. We share family traditions that most people think are crazy. Laura has big things going on her in her life – I’m excited to see where the next few months take her!

Laura, your friendship is a such a blessing and my life here in Austin would not be nearly as fun without you. You are beautiful, smart, funny, kind, compassionate, and go out of the way for your friends.

Ha. I have no self control and felt the world needed to see this photo!

The blue wall outfit was styled by Ophelia Chafigoulline and everything was purchased at Spring Frost. Both Ophelia and Spring are also in the the “favorite people ever” category and will be on the blog mid-November!!

Professional Headshots {Janice Reyes Photography – Austin, TX}

I think professional headshots can be more than just the grown up awkward school photo. I see professionals with horrible headshots everywhere. Maybe it is because I’m a photographer, but I’m definitely going to judge you on the quality of your picture. Have you been using the same headshot for the last decade? Is it a snapshot? Do you look overly airbrushed? Are you smiling? People, if you look mean in your photo I’m going to be afraid to call you. All I can picture is your grumpy/hangry/meanie/creeper face and I’m just waiting for you to yell at me. Even if you don’t like to smile you can smize or give a little smirk. If you aren’t smiling and have the look of “I hate when people take my picture” in your eyes I think you look more like a creeper/meanie than a professional. I’m not 100% blaming the creeper look on you – your photographer needs to take some ownership in making you feel relaxed and posing you to make you look your best.

On that note, I spent some time this morning at Brandon’s work taking headshots of him and his coworkers. I took the photos with 100% natural light, my 85mm, a ladder, and a big white panel to use a reflector. The background is just the wall to the office.

I told Brandon that someday I’ll write an whole blog post about his total super awesomeness. That day is not today, however, I will give you the top 10 reasons why Brandon is awesome today.

1. He had tea waiting for me when I woke up.
2. He started the day off with the boys by doing today’s Long Story Short.
3. He emailed Hometeam the questions for our current study.
4. He helped get the boys ready for school.
5. He loaded my photography stuff into the car.
6. He organized picture day at work and everything went smoothly.
7. We had an excellent lunch date.
8. He will be home by 5 because he measures his success by the time he spends with his family.
9. He is thankful when people take the time to think about what he thinks.
10. Our kids think they have the best daddy in the world.

Here is my guy – smart, handsome, and all around awesome.
