Micah + Ali {Janice Reyes Photography – Austin, TX}

I don’t get the opportunity to photograph couples too often because I am not a wedding photographer. When my roommate, Micah, asked Ali to marry him I was super excited they asked me to do their engagement session. Have I mentioned we got a new roommate? My brother moved out so we had space. I know most people think we are crazy people for taking in another adult after my brother lived with us for 18 months. We aren’t crazy – we just like having a live-in babysitter around. I’m not joking. Also, Brandon and Micah are in a bromance. Last night, while I was editing photos from a foster care event they were downstairs watching part 3 of a 17 hour seminar on evolution. I wish I was joking.

Micah and Ali, I hope you enjoy this wedding planning season. Your friends and family are so incredibly excited for your journey in marriage together. Brandon and myself are grateful for your friendships and feel blessed to have you around :)

I leave you with these:

-She was the apple of his eye and he liked to sit down be cider.

-The bride’s best friend is so proud, she’s practically made of honor.

-A husband who thinks he is as solid as a rock may have a wife who wishes he was a little bolder.

-When he proposed to her, she found it very engaging.

Family Bluebonnet Portraits {Janice Reyes Photography – Austin, TX}

I am surrounded by trains, cars, and super heroes. If you ask B or E to pretend nurture a toy they will slam it to the ground, jump on it, and scream BOOOOOM BAAAAAASH BOOOOOYAHHHHHHHH!!!! Friends, I wish I was exaggerating.

When I get the opportunity to photograph girly girls I can’t help but think about pink, bows, flowers, polka dots, and everything that sparkles. The “D” family delivered with three adorable, sweet, and fun girls. You are all beautiful and wonderful and if we hang out enough you might make me start saying y’all.

Check back for some more bluebonnet photos! I had a group of gorgeous friends come out for mini sessions and I can’t wait to show off their bff/roomate/twinsie/awesome fb profile photos :)

I have the coolest friends.

It’s a…. {Guest Blogger}

{My friend is going to write this post for me. She has a beautiful family and I love all the images from their session!}

It’s a… BOY!!!  We are so excited to be able to announce the gender of our new baby through these beautiful pictures!  I was THRILLED to do a photo session with Janice, knowing the quality of her work, but I had no idea how fun it would be to work with her!  I’m glad to share about our experience and to reveal some of the fabulous pictures that Janice captured.  I’m still so amazed at how wonderful they all turned out!

Janice came to our house on an evening that was convenient for us.  I love that she was extremely accommodating  and wanted us to feel as comfortable as possible.  Because we have two young boys (and I’m LARGE with child), Janice made the experience easy for us in every way possible.  We walked to a nearby wooded area, and she began photographing away.  Because Janice has two little boys and knows exactly what it’s like to try to keep them under control, she was incredibly prepared to work with our children.  Not only did she promise balloons to the boys if they did well, but she even provided stickers when they held still for the camera!  It was truly because of her knowledge of children that our kiddos behaved and took great pictures.  Janice seemed to catch them at exactly the right time- with Owen looking at the camera with this bright blue eyes, or with Caleb looking shyly her way with his sweet grin.  She kept shooting and shooting, catching all of their fun moments together.  Janice also gave the boys lots of breaks, knowing when they were getting bored or stubborn, and they tended to obey with the idea of stickers and balloons coming their way. :)

Janice was also excellent with positions and sunlight.  Nathan and I had no idea what to do for the pictures, but she told us exactly where to stand, where to put our hands, and added subtle details that make the pictures so great.  We felt very comfortable with her, because she always knew what she was doing!  She was constantly finding the sunlight for good lighting, giving us small tips for the ideal shot, and just made us feel at ease.  I also had a few moments with her by myself, which I loved.  Janice was super fun and tried a number of props that she brought herself– balloons, ribbons, bows.  She is incredibly creative, which is clearly seen in the pictures!  I loved my individual shots with her; we had easy conversation and she got some amazing pictures!

The photographs below speak for themselves.  The photo session was so quick and easy, I’m still shocked that she got so many wonderful pictures!  THANK YOU,  Janice, for such a fun photo shoot and great pics.  I just wish I knew about you when my first two kiddos were on the way!  You were a joy to work with, and I will treasure these pictures for a lifetime.
