Micah + Ali {Janice Reyes Photography – Austin, TX}

I don’t get the opportunity to photograph couples too often because I am not a wedding photographer. When my roommate, Micah, asked Ali to marry him I was super excited they asked me to do their engagement session. Have I mentioned we got a new roommate? My brother moved out so we had space. I know most people think we are crazy people for taking in another adult after my brother lived with us for 18 months. We aren’t crazy – we just like having a live-in babysitter around. I’m not joking. Also, Brandon and Micah are in a bromance. Last night, while I was editing photos from a foster care event they were downstairs watching part 3 of a 17 hour seminar on evolution. I wish I was joking.

Micah and Ali, I hope you enjoy this wedding planning season. Your friends and family are so incredibly excited for your journey in marriage together. Brandon and myself are grateful for your friendships and feel blessed to have you around :)

I leave you with these:

-She was the apple of his eye and he liked to sit down be cider.

-The bride’s best friend is so proud, she’s practically made of honor.

-A husband who thinks he is as solid as a rock may have a wife who wishes he was a little bolder.

-When he proposed to her, she found it very engaging.

Three (Janice Reyes Photography – Austin, TX}

He is three.

Seriously.

E brings so much joy to the world. He is so optimistic, kind, and happy. I love that he asks to snuggle and gives me big kisses (runs with his mouth WIDE open and then closes it at the last second). His imagination keeps this house filled with boats, airplanes, and GHHHHOOOOOOOSSSSSSTTTTSSSSS.

He is the best little brother. He is the best second son. I am so blessed to be his mother.

Honestly, the first year was crazy – no sleep and a mommy milk monster. I must have walked miles with him during the day the first few months. Brandon must have walked miles with him during the middle of the night during the day the first few months. We co-slept. He never took a bottle. He was up 9 times a night and never took a nap longer than 30 minutes. Can we also talk about how he tried to hand me a scorpion at 11 months? I am still ruined.

Good thing he is so dang awesome now (because at 9:45pm he is still creeping out of his bed and I still love him).

I now sleep, no longer am an open milk bar, and live in a house without scorpions.

Happy birthday to my enthusiastic, bright, and sweet second son.

Look at this squishy, sweet, and beautiful baby girl.

How is the Hunt? {Janice Reyes Photography – Austin, TX}

I am loving all the love going around on the hunt. It isn’t too late to join -just start posting pictures on instagram.

Here is how I spent the weekend:

#snaphappyhuntmay5

Cinco de Mayo party! Have I mentioned how much I love living in Austin?

Sunday started off rainy, but it turned into a beautiful day. 2 points if you know where I took this photo.

I feel like there was some resistance when it came to the self portrait. Honestly, self portraits make me nervous. The purpose of the hunt is to have fun, but I also want to challenge myself. Taking a picture of myself when I hadn’t showered or brushed my teeth is part of the game.

My favorite day so far has been day 2, but I’m pretty excited for today’s theme.

Happy Tuesday, friends.
