– The world becomes a little bit more interesting when Janice Ann Kurczewski is born.
– I decide my grandmother is perfect and spend hours watching her sew and crochet.
– I become the owner of a super cool My Little Pony sewing machine. My trolls had the most rocking pillows. I also learn how to crochet a chain.
- I learn how to use my grandmother’s industry sewing machines and have an awesome scrunchy collection.
– I become a little obsessed with friendship bracelets.
– I rebel against Hazleton Area High School’s no backpack policy and make an awesome purse large enough for a book and notebook. I still have it and I still love it.
– I move to Frederick, MD to attend Hood College.
- I start making lots of scarves and hats and realize patterns are not scary.
- I graduate with a degree in Environmental Biology and move to NYC to teach middle school science in the Bronx. I meet the most amazing man ever.
– I get married, change my name to Janice Ann Reyes, and move to Stamford, CT.
– I turned in my grad school thesis about students doing group work and five days later have a 10lb 8oz baby. Four months later, pregnant again. I sew a stash of cloth diapers and make an absurd amount of longies/soakers.
– I have another large baby. Kalynn Tupa of Unscripted Portraits (Greenwich, CT) totally inspires me and I get my own camera. I take lots and lots of picture and have photography on the mind constantly. I continue to knit, crochet, tunisian crochet, and dye yarn.
– I move to Austin, the coolest city ever, and become even more inspired. I invest in some studio equipment and realize Photoshop may be my new best friend. My almost one year old son tries to hand me a living scorpion. I give new meaning to the word hysteria, but still love this place. I take my camera everywhere and start taking pictures of kids and families whenever I can. I get a website and start doing the photography thing officially.
